The symposium will bring together diversity champions and novices from biotechnology and pharmaceutical companies in the Greater Boston area to share learnings and connect on challenging, but important topics in the area of diversity & inclusion. We’ll cover topics such as allies and inclusive leadership, recruitment and retention strategies, community engagement and social responsibility, and formation and sustainability of employee resource groups/networks. Dr. Joan Reede, Professor of Medicine and Dean for Diversity and Community Partnership at Harvard Medical School (HMS) will be our keynote speaker. Dr. Reede founded the HMS Minority Faculty Development Program and also currently serves as Faculty Director of the Community Outreach programs. The day will conclude with a networking reception.

Recruitment and Retention Strategies for a Diverse and Inclusive Workforce: Learn strategies on not only recruiting and hiring a diverse & inclusive workforce, but also retaining and promoting one and discuss how different companies measure success.

Allies and Inclusive Leadership: Why Diversity Isn’t Enough: What does it mean to be an ally? What is inclusion and how is it different from diversity? This panel will address those questions and more, including examples of how to develop and foster building a culture that supports diversity and inclusiveness.
